Five Style Tips Your Mother Didn’t Tell You

Five-Tips_2These style tips are extremely useful and ones I wasn’t necessarily taught growing up. To some they may be common knowledge, while others may have an “Ah Ha” moment, call their Mom and ask why?

#5 –Always Have an Emergency Kit on Hand

These are a must have for everyone. It is super easy to put your own kit together, or simply buy one. Minimergency Kits from Pinch Provisions are a great example, and contain items like: hairspray, clear nail polish, nail polish remover, emery board, lip balm, earring backs, clear elastics, mending kit, double-sided tape, stain remover, deodorant towelette… I keep a kit in my purse, car and at my desk. You never know when you will be in a pinch!

#4 – Invest in Cleavage Coverage Tubes

Sometimes the girls need just a little more fabric! Tubes and bandeau tops are a necessity in your wardrobe, and are far less cumbersome than adding a tank under your clothes. Cleavage tubes are stretchy and easy to wear over your normal bra and under tops or dresses for added coverage. Miss Oops has adorable lace cleavage coverage options.

#3 – Black and Brown Actually Work Together

I don’t know about you, but I was raised by the rule that black and brown could never EVER be worn in the same outfit. However, the two colors can be very chic when paired together in the right way.

#2 – There is Such a Thing as too Matchy Matchy

A teal dress with teal shoes and teal accessories can be a little much when worn all at once. Individually all the items can be fabulous when paired with other things. Imagine the necklace and shoes with a white dress or the earrings and clutch with jeans and a light pink blouse. Adorable! When putting together your looks, if you are ever in doubt remove one thing and try to have one main focal point.

#1 – Never Wear a White Bra under a White Top

Burn your white bra now, or at the very least do not wear it under a white top! I had to teach my Mom this style tip. A nude, ivory, taupe or brown bra (depending on your skin tone) must be worn under light colored tops if you don’t want everyone to see it.
